I withdraw into my corner
where darkness
gives sanctuary
to the mute onlooker

In a dream I could
pay the debt I owe
for human deprivation

Can my feelings
be torn from my grasp
like an unknown freedom
I can never know?

Torture me
if it will help!
Electric wires
pliers
melting skin
hated redemption

Instead, I watch
the silent many
tormented bloody souls
in rotting fields
where the earth
regrows a history
destined to repeat itself

I put my arms around me
and weep
as only one pair of eyes can

Enjoyed your poem. Chilling imagery.

If I might, the second stanza - "In a dream I could pay the debt I owe for human deprivation" begs an explanation of why ? to my mind.

Thank you for sharing.
