Now I'm running off to check what grades have been posted at least a couple times an hour, I'm driving my parents up a wall. I have a pretty good idea of what each of them will be, but I fell compelled to check constantly. Anyone else acting in such a way lately? What were some of your favorite classes this last semester? What are you majoring in? Are there any classes that you're particularly looking forward to for next semester?
Lets share our joy for academia!
I'm double-majoring in Sociology and Political Science and I'm planning on pursuing a career as a professor of sociology at a major research university. I find the subject absolutely fascinating and find that it exposes you to a range of viewpoints and schools of thought that allows one to put the surrounding world in perspective. I was enrolled in a Sociology of Religion course just this past spring and it was absolutely brilliant. I went to a Catholic school from 3-12th grade and despite this (or perhaps because of it) I am an atheist, so having the ability to take a step back and look objectively at religions from a sociological perspective, as opposed to one based in theology, was a fantastic experience.
I'm taking a light course load over the summer to get some credits out of the way and to keep fairly busy, but I am most excited for the classes that I am registered for in the upcoming fall semester. Especially Intro to Social Theory and Intro to Creative Writing. I'm going to minor in creative writing as my great love is literature, and would attempt a third major in English if I did not have to work.
