View Full Version : Wordsworth + split self

Doing a 4000 word essay on the great poet and his 'split personality' or rather split consciousness:

In more detail, I'll be looking at 'There was a boy' from the Prelude and probably the Immortality Ode (and likely incorporating 'Tintern Abbey'), exploring how Wordsworth seems to see his young self (or young consciousness) as separate from his adult one. Almost as if he looks back at his youth as if it were another person altogether.

Does anyone have any ideas or references or interesting aspects to offer?

Would be immensely grateful :)
