what is it
about our first love that
is so helplessly impenetrable?
the good Lord knows I don't have a dime to invest
on silly pipe dreams like you and I.
after all, you have a baby and a
baby mama back home, but when I was 15
or even 16
or even 17
we could have done things right.
most people say they live with no regrets
but no one ever admits
they regret leaving their first love.
warm, wet kisses, sloppy movements, dainty conversations
doused in perfume and
holy water.
we are strange, strange beings
when the doors are all closed
and there are demons on our back

This is as seemingly effortless, inspired and free-breathing as all your poems and I was especially touched by the movement between

Well, big surprise, but I love it. I think I should just replace all of my written criticism and praise of your work with some kind of bowing smiley...

I too found this piece very enchanting - memories that in so many ways I regret but also take a good deal of comfort from.
You have a gentle way with words; of making us all whisper 'Yes, there go I'
Loved this one.
