The Brothers Karamzov by Dosteyvski. I can pull this if people think this is too much. But it would make a good summer read.

I'd love to read that again, but would anyone else stick through a discussion of that? I thought the book club did BK once before, but I can't find the thread. If you guys did discuss it before, how did it go?

Quark, you may be thinking of "The Idiot"...we discussed that a few years back. Is the "Brothers K" a family story? I guess, being brothers, that's family enough. Maybe if you all read it I will join in. I happen to own the book along with other Dostoyevski novels I hope to get to someday.

Really? No wonder I couldn't find it.

The father plays a big role in the story, too, so I think it's got plenty of family for the book club. I'm just asking if it's got a few too many pages for the club. I don't know if I have time to reread it, and I remember it only in the most fragmentary of senses. I'd probably post sometimes, but I don't think I would be there for the whole discussion.

A father and three sons. Yes I would consider that a family drama.

I'm reading The Brothers Karamzov right now and I had forgotten just how awesome a novel this is. Possibly the finest novel of all time. Defintely worth reading and discussing. :)

I'm sick of hearing about The Brothers Karamazov on this forum ALL THE TIME...so I give up and vote for it. :D I really want to see what al the fuss is about...plus, it's a murder mystery. How can I say no?

No. Assuming that is a book...

Yeah, sorry, it is a book The Help (http://www.amazon.com/Help-Kathryn-Stockett/dp/0399155341/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274354432&sr=1-1)...
The reason I ask was just because it shares similar themes with The Keepers of the House. I thought if you liked stories like that then maybe you have read The Help...it's been on the top 10 lists of Amazon and so on. I want to read it eventually, so I thought I might ask if you have and what you think :) I should have said that in the first post, hey? :D

Only nominated it because it is a Pulitzer winner.

My mistake...I assumed you picked it because you like similar stories.

Anyhoo, I bought The Brothers Karamazov on Saturday. I'm going to read it anyway, whether or not it wins the poll, but I bought it now because it was a really nice copy (and translation) for very cheap.
