Happy Birthday!
An interview with Andave_ya:
Why are we doing this interview thing?
because I want to see how I've changed and what questions have been added since last year.
Are you sure you want to do this?
Sure! It's the first day of spring break and I'm watching a movie on tv, with my roommate.
Are you male or female?
female!!
What is your name (if you don't mind sharing it with us)?
Mary Sue :).
Got milk?
My roommate and I bought a quart to go with the cereal minis I've stolen from the dining hall...
Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
Erm...hehehe...that'd be me.
If you had a personal theme song what would it be?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iV3piL6qzE. It's a song by the Christian band Downhere.
What makes you keep coming back to the Forum?
People who legitimately like literature.
It has been a year since the last interview. What have been the high and low points?
High points: I'm almost finished with my first year of college at Patrick Henry College and I LOVE IT!!! And I've met Rich and Virgil! And I got my first A- with Spinney. Low point: Well, my health hasn't been so good. But I'm still very happy and so blessed!
The best and worst books you have read during last year?
Woah!! I have read so many amazing books here at college. I think my favorite has been either Dante’s Inferno or Walden by Thoreau. It was infuriating, but I really enjoyed it. The worst? Hmmm. There was a book on the New Deal that got me so confused, and I was horribly surprised when my professor asked the class what we thought of the author’s extreme left-wing politics. I hadn’t even picked up on that! Oh, and for Western Civ we were assigned readings from Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations. AHHHH it was so boring!!
The biggest surprises of the past year (both pleasant and unpleasant)?
My roommates are amazing and the best that I could ask for! And my first year of college has gone by soooo fast! I’m five weeks away from finishing my freshman year. Unpleasant surprises: I hate breakfast.
What has been the the biggest change in your life since your last birthday?
Well, college! I moved clear across the states from CA to VA to go to school to study literature.
Have you studied literature as a subject in college?
That’s what I am doing =). I’m only a freshman though, so I haven’t taken any of my upper-level literature courses. I’m in Western Literature I now.
Do you feel the divine spark of life within you or do you consider yourself a mechanical thing?
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:27. So I feel very much alive, thank you very much!!
How free are you?
Free enough to be human, because God is so good!
Do you have any pets? What are their names?
My pet here in college is my roommate Emma. She’s cute and adorable and loads of fun.
Given the option, what animal would you choose to be?
Why on earth would I choose to be any animal? God made me human and in His own image. I’ll stay human, thanks!
What is the one thing you must do before you die?
Visit England!
Do you believe in ghosts?
Mmmm, yes. I can almost see them. Not scary or malevolent ghosts, just friendly ones that make life interesting.
What song is in your head at the moment?
“Waitin’ for the World to Change” by John Mayer
Which book are you reading at the moment?
King Lear by Shakespeare
What type of an author would you be?
A truthful one.
The last book you finished reading?
As You Like it, also by Shakespeare. WEIRD!! I still don’t like Shakespeare!
What are you wearing at the moment?
Old jeans, a grey sweater dress, a ratty old green sweater, and black flipflops.
Favorite TV shows?
Bones, White Collar, Castle, Eureka, and Doctor Who
Which LitNet members would you like to meet in person if you could?
Well, I’ve met Rich and Virgil and pussnboots, and those are top three =). Next is mkhockenberry, BienvenuJDC, Niamh, Janine, and Nightshade.
What's your favourite sound?
My mom and dad’s laughter.
What's your favourite smell?
It’s a new favorite smell: the smell of spring after my first Virginia winter.
Last food did you have?
See’s Candy chocolates!
Last words you said out loud?
“Thanks, Brady!”
Last person you hugged/kissed?
A friend of mine who was leaving PHC for home over break!
What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?
Finishing King Lear, or outlining a paper, or researching another paper, or working on a speech…
Last dream you remember having?
A really bizarre one where I had to rescue my literature professor from snow. Yeah, I don’t get it either.
What is your most bizarre book memory?
Hm…Well the one that currently comes to mind is reading Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time. It was my first science fiction book and it freaked me out badly! It took me forever to dare to pick up a sci-fi book again!!
Who is your best friend and how long you have known them?
My best friend is my Mom! I love my mom dearly and I’ll never outgrow her!
Are you mostly happy with life or are you still in pursuit?
YES!! I LOVE MY LIFE!! God is so good to me and I am so blessed!!! I want to be in school for the rest of my life!!
How often do you tell lies?
Rarely ever. I can’t say I’ve never lied (I wish I could), but now I hate lies and dishonesty.
What gives your life meaning?
Heheh, let me tell you! Jesus’s death on the cross for me, God’s love for me, God’s immutability, His graciousness, His immutability, His eternality, etc and etc and etc!!

I think I’d be purple. It’s my favorite color; it can be soft and gentle and light…but it can also be dark and sultry…what am I saying?!?
What's your favorite kind of ice cream? Isn't that the be-all and end-all of questions?
Um, no, it isn’t…but my favorite kind is vanilla bean. It’s so refreshing!!
What makes you laugh?
My schoolwork. The stuff I read for school. My roommates. My sister, my family…
What was the happiest period of your life and why?
The happiest period of my life has been from the day I was born, through today, and because God is sovereign I’ll be saying that till the day I die…
If you could be a Disney character who or what would you be and why?
I think I’ve always wanted to be Pocahontas. My mom tells me I used to sing “Just Around the Riverbend” when she was giving me a bath when I was little. I would do it because she’s got amazing songs :p, because she’s strong and doesn’t mind going against tradition.
Do those animated smilies ever get tired? Think of them day after day, dancing or crashing computers or laughing or crying till the end of time...
WAAHAHAHA this is the question I came up with!! I don’t think they do. I think they’re going to take over the world!!
One thing you would like to do before your next birthday?
Get an A+ on a Spinney paper!!
What will you be doing in the year 2035?
2035? That’s 25 years from now…so I’ll be almost 44. WOAH!! I hope I have a family with two kids and a Ph.D in Literature and another in either music, philosophy, history, or library science. Or psychology. Or astronomy. Or any combination thereof :p.
Where shall we meet?
Over the hills and far away, where the sun meets the sea and the stars touch the land.
Did you answer all of the question?
Nooo………
Do you now understand why they asked you if you were sure you wanted to answer all these questions?:D
Hahaha, yeah!
One final word of wisdom for LitNet users?
Life is always good!
What would you like to ask to the person to be interviewed after you?
Are you smiling?
