School: discrimination

different: race, beliefs, opinions, culture, language, color, and classmates.

is it okay to discuss different races, cultures, etc... at school to your classmates whether it is harmful/offensive or not

or should not be done because it will just create the word "discrimination" that could hurt someone's feeling?

Umm, I didn't really understand what it is you want to discuss about. Could you perhaps clarify a bit?

I agree that there needs to be a better clarified question.

If this is meant to talk about how a child may become a school outcast within borders, then I'm in. When I was at school I was almost pushed downstairs, not to mention the countless times I came back home with a spit on my jacket's back that my mother had to have the stomach to clean, so I can relate how it feels not to... "belong". I often listen to people and their school nostalgia, and it just makes me sick. I can't understand what there is to be so much missed. For me, the last day at school was a highway to heavenly freedom.

I think it is essential to be able to discuss these things at school. It wasn't until college that I started getting in classes where themes of race, class, so on were discussed.

Discussing these things in an academic setting, with your peers and a thoughtful instructor, are in my opinion very important to gaining a broader perspective of the ideas, seeing opposing viewpoints and perhaps learning from them, and most of all gaining some true knowledge about those issues

I think that they should be discussed thoroughly. Ignoring the differences in people is a lot like trying to ignore the elephant in the room. I think the difficulty lies in discussing everything in an educational manner and not in relation to being "different" or "odd".
