The room is full of people
With friends and enemies
People that I barely know
And some I’ve never seen.

Like strangers riding on a bus
Unconnected except by fate
Never would have seen before
Yet, now seems almost set.

Many different faces
No one looks the same
Yet even in this crowded room
A cold darkness came.

With so called friends around me
A coldness settles here
I realize without sadness
That this place is queer.

The room is full of people
And yet I am alone
A loneliness has settled
Atop a frozen throne.

A very intense poem - conveying a touch of paranoia in a very chilling way.
Not so sure about the final line, unless it is meant to intensify the sense of coldness and isolation.

An effective piece of writing nonetheless.

Hillwalker nailed the perfect adjective; chilling. I love the sense of detachment - as if some kind of ghost is describing a funeral home gathering.
