So, first of all, I've never read Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Dubliners, or The Odyssey, and I went in expecting that I wouldn't understand a lot of what was going on in the book.

Now, onto the book itself, or the first 23 pages...Has anyone here ever had an orgasm that felt so good that they felt inclined to push their lover away because it was just too good? That's about how my brain felt during those 23 pages. I wanted to put it down, but I just couldn't. I might be inclined to say that, just from that brief glimpse, Ulysses is certainly the best thing I've ever read (the first chapter of). I loved it so much that I decided not to read it all straight through, but rather in pieces over time, because I don't want to finish it too quickly.

It will be a long time before I make much progress in it (I'm planning on reading one chapter after every book that I finish), but I have to ask, does it stay this good?
