You Tore Me Apart

I see the accusation
crisp within your eyes
as you become blind
to reason.

Ignorance has
infused you,
malicious whispers
others planted
in your mind,
you take these things
and turn them over slowly.

My explanations
fall away upon deaf
ears, already turned
from the truth,
fueling your own
indignation
in what you don't
understand.

Have I changed?
became transformed
into another person?
I feel as if I am the same
me as I was before,
with the same thoughts
and the same feelings,
but there must be
something I cannot see,
that word which has
so irreversibly altered me,
by the way you
recoil.

Your faith
evaporated
like drops of water
in the desert sands,
it fell between us
like a bombshell,
now we each stand
upon our own islands,
though I have tried
to plead, you repeat
to misguided assertions
others have spoken
first.

I regret my
confiding, you
make me wish
it would have been
better to hide,
you make me begin
to question myself.

The day I told you
I was bi,
it hung like something
dirty in the air,
and it became a matter
of predestination,
you already saw me
seeking out sleazy hotels
sliding in and out of
bed with women
behind your back.

You defiled
my devotion,
in your twisted
vision of reality,
that lived only inside
your own head.

It was determined by
you, that if it were
true what I said,
then I was only capable
of half loving you.

Though I was still
the same, though
my thoughts and feelings
would not change,
the only way to repair
us, was to wash away
that dirty, filthy little
word that stood
between us.

Excellent expression, but sad too.

Men are disturbed not by things that happen,
but by their opinion of the things that happen.

A well-written piece - a dignified rebuttal to prejudice and the lack of empathy from someone the writer trusts and has feelings for.
Very eloquent, and ultimately sad as dizzydoll says.

His loss, he made room for better. Thats why I love poetry which is written in a personal tone, because I place myself in the poets shoes and take it personally too.

As dizzyd says - very much his loss DM. Your courage and dignity shine through in these carefully chosen words.

Thank you, yes I have moved on to better things now, and glad to have that behind me.
