lost poem

[Sampson]

i feel like a masterpiece
has manifested in my finger tips
this evening and i believe it
would be a great poem if i had
of chosen to write it instead of
just lying on the sofa soaking up
easter sunday sorrows after a
hollow shift listening to the blues
i felt the room move me towards
pen and paper but later i realised
that the whole experience was simply
a trick of the mind and never did
write those lines so... well
approaching 4am and i'm writing
with no reason other than reflection
on a fleeting feeling uniting
divided factions in my mind
stealing emotion for the sake of a
verse but i still can't remember
those words which i might have spoken
to my silent surroundings and now
it seems a whole new poem has emerged
formed where the first, whilst brief,
masterpiece of the evening left a deep
impression i felt i couldn't settle
until the surreal experience of
watching the best words i will ever
write take flight before i bothered
to grab pad and be creativity's scribe
