Two Things

Bad and good times go by
The good worth a smile, the bad a sigh
Time moves on towards its end
Life at various times a foe or a friend
Morning comes and dusk too
After awhile, there's just nothing new
Over the horizon we tend to look
And backwards we sometimes peer
To see what's far, to see what's near
We take for granted the happy times
And bid our sorrows quick adieu
To find something better, to find something new
But life is just the same and
We are older by far looking
For some lasting star in the skies
Of an early autumn night
Long past youth's delight
What do we find in the end but one true
foe and one true friend?

Light in a Dark Time

In a dark year, in a dark
time a place I didn't want but
Which was mine a candle
Suddenly glowed the world lit up
An human angel appeared, the dark
Was gone the dark moved on
The light glows steady still years later
My angel is my fate forever
Though it's been long since then
Time doesn't dim what started then
But builds the fire a flower
Goes from bud to full blown
An angel I can call my own
Years before you came, Iona,
I knew your name years before
We ever met I had my intent
To find the one whose name I knew
To find the one for me, my twin, my eternity.
