Hey! I've got an idea. You should read One of Ours, by Willa Cather. I bet reading that book might help you fulfill some kind of goal or something.

It is on my Ereader... Was hoping that it would be one of the BC selections... But I will soon :)
The Comedian should read... Jane Eyre... You don't know what you are missing! :p

Is there anything in that book about how the "course of true love never did run smooth"? Or maybe there's a dash of "is he a good guy/match" theme? Or could there be a "nice girl loves the jerk" theme? I love those kind of books! :p
Here's one that you might enjoy, Scher:

Most recently, I've read Crime and Punishment and would recommend to anyone, as it is my new favorite book. Also from the post above it seems like you like real-world oriented books, and it is in my opinion the essence of what life feels like and appears to be when you're poor.

:) Dave just ordered it for me today, it should be in the library within the week (yes, my town is so small that the library actually has to order in the books that we're looking for).
For you, I reccomend: Stardust, by Neil Gaiman. It was the only fantasy book that I actually liked a lot, and your usual avatar is pretty fantasy-esque.

A Night in the Lonesome October by Roger Zelzany
Comical, horror, and detective novel all rolled into one and a fantastic read!

The Maltese Falcon my Dashiell Hammett.
The only detictive novel that I can stand (besides Holmes, but I figured that you'd have read all of them by now). Sam's secretary Effie is pretty cool.

Promethea by Alan Moore.
It's a comic book series, and I think that you'd love it. It's all about how the creative mind and human understanding of the things around us are sort of a seperate world all on their own. The images are fantastic, it's really some of the most beautiful artistry that I've ever seen. Lots of fairies, very woodsy and complex.
I like this thread.

Baseball fan, eh. How about The Natural by Bernard Malamud.
Venetia by Georgette Heyer, because it is on the list of bestsellers even in our days, and I understand why - it is really nice.

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman.
Its Gaiman at his finest and i believe you are someone who would appriciate the genius that is Gaiman.

Actually i've always wanted to read that book!
Knife by RJ Anderson.
Kids book but i think you'd like the main character. Headstrong, bold, defiant Fairy who has more cop on and brains than the rest of her tree. :)
Satan

The Secret and The Alchemist ..'cause ...'cause they're so popular.

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell for Niamh....I think you'd find it a bit more entertaining than I did because of the magic aspect...oh and the faeries (if I remember correctly!)

Chocolat by Joanne Harris.
I enjoyed reading it; both characters and the story line were quirky.
Knife by RJ Anderson.

Already read it so many times that I don't think I will pick it up again in near future.
Niamh should read... The Alienist by Caleb Carr; I am pretty sure you would like the mystery.

Sandman (comic) by Neil Gaiman and various artists. It's graphic story telling at its best and for a lover of faerie, well, it's like frosting on a cake.
