Yes, join us and be a princess (real or fictional) for a day... OK, more like for a weekend!

I am sure the guys on the Forum also feel confident enough to don princess outfits for a day or two as well. :D

Basil

I'm interested to hear more about her.
A long time ago, in the underground realm, where there are no lies or pain, there lived a Princess who dreamed of the human world. She dreamed of blue skies, soft breeze, and sunshine. One day, eluding her keepers, the Princess escaped. Once outside, the brightness blinded her and erased every trace of the past from her memory. She forgot who she was and where she came from. Her body suffered cold, sickness, and pain. Eventually, she died. However, her father, the King, always knew that the Princess' soul would return, perhaps in another body, in another place, at another time. And he would wait for her, until he drew his last breath, until the world stopped turning...

For the rest of the story, you'll have to watch this movie. (http://www.allmovie.com/work/pans-labyrinth-326961)

And I haven't seen Basil's movie either; is it worthwhile?

Heat> I have never seen that shot of Snow White before... :D

Janine> I am thinking I make mine permanent...

Orphan steals the show with his choice in my opinion! :D

Now, I am going for Sleeping Beauty ... only half of it is true, obviously. But then, in german she is called "Dornröschen", and this happens to coincide, in part, with my real life nickname

I was really town between Mulan and Fiona but at the end settled on the latter... So me in so many ways!

So, "Dornröschen" means "beauty" in German? :)

Not really. The literal translation is: Dorn = thorn. "Röschen" is a diminutive of "rose", so the meaning of "Dornröschen" would be, "little thorny rose".

I blame Chernobyl.

Of course, it might be a shot of Snow White (http://www.holycow.com/dreaming/stories/snow-glass-apples) when she had become a proper off-with-their-heads queen, you usually don't get told about what happens afterwards.

thorn rose is actually the literal translation of what we call her in Iceland too, nothing about her beauty or the sleeping part....

OrphanPip

The Sleeping Beauty name comes from the Perrault fairy tale version of the story, "La Belle au bois dormant" "the beauty asleep in the woods" or "the sleeping beauty in the woods".

The English translation of the Grimm version is Briar Rose I think.

Oh Scher… I wish I could say that she was a 'whiter than white' wonderful princess and that butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth. Alas – my animated Cinderella avatar wouldn’t load and this was the only princess who was available at short notice and at a reduced rate! Still - she likes to stay up late and has a few interesting party tricks up her sleeve so I guess I’ll make the most of it!:rolleyes5:

Thanks for the reminder. I am in the UK but I have seen your post too late I am afraid (I still wouldn't have had time to watch it at that time, though. Had a busy weekend); however, I have added to my Blockbuster list so should get it sometime next week or so.
