Colors Of A Year
Glowing embers before a winter's fire
aflame with the passion that burins inside,
reunite before the comforts of the hearth
never again let the coldness of the night
enter into our hearts between us,
thaw the anger and embrace as the storm blows over.
Awakening to the haze of purple-gray skies,
misty mornings breathe softly in white stillness,
embrace the soft gentleness which falls like flakes of snow,
twisting lost within the wind, like souls blown apart
harrowing through any distance,
yearning like spring blooms waiting to erupt through
somber days of heavy hovering gray fog,
treasures unexpected my yet still be uncovered.
Brightness promises to arise over the crest,
lost rays of dazzling sunlight once more
offers bursts of red-orange skies skimming
over distant horizons, touching warm fingers
dissipate the former glistening whiteness,
soon a green blush will embrace, unfolding
the first buds of new born life that emerges
out of the sheltering cold of winter's womb,
now our hearts beat together again as one,
earthly delight among sweet scented meadows.
Drips of rain slide along glassy window panes,
inward reflections sought among gathering pools,
alone in the quiet solitude of melodious bird song,
memories brought upon the warm breeze amid the
odor of sweet flowers scent, a touch of hope
never to fade away, clear thoughts like the clear
day of these cloudless blue skies.
Effervescent colors dance before the eyes
myriads of butterflies with dyed powder wings
emerge from among the fields of flowers,
returning to our sanctuary,
along the banks of rivers fed by thawing snow,
lost within our tender kisses and sweet words,
defying the world when surrounded in our private Eden.
Pray tell the sweetness starts to dwindle,
erosion of the all too brief suspended paradise,
anxious tension trembles in a thickening air,
recedes the vast greenness which once
lustily covered the land in its soft down.
Red hotness burns in the suns sweltering eye
unleashing its fury with searing anger,
bearing down in suppressive command
yesterday only a dream the seems never to come again.
Open your eyes slowly, pressed down
nullified, we cannot speak as we lay part
yearning now for glaciers to crash upon our heads,
xeric air stifling our love.
Serenade of zephyr winds descend long
awaited to bring its quick cooling release,
paper leaves reflect the colors of a dying season,
pepper gray skies can just be glimpsed,
hinting at sleepy days and long beautiful nights,
illicit the stars hovering above and gazing down,
restoring a harmony which had been stolen,
entering another phase as the moon traverses.
Opaque desires linger in the cloudy air,
pale are your eyes watching from a distance,
almost close enough to touch through
lacerations of the unrelenting storm.
Truth begins to rust around the edges,
offered only in flakes falling away,
pelted beneath the hailstones of your words,
azure the sun comes through murky skies,
zealous feelings tossed against each other.
Tread softly upon the shifting ground
under the stretching cold nights,
remember our tender embraces,
quivering together amid the swirling snow,
utter forgiveness into the building winds,
open our hearts to so rare a warmth,
iridescent colors dancing against the ice,
stoic trees loom black against white sky,
eerie are these rare moments when time seems still.
