View Full Version : Invictus
all my heroes have slipped away
the last one left just yesterday
across the yard and over the fence
I haven't seen another one since
all my heroes have gone astray
I'd wish for more, but I don't pray
I've had a few, maybe that's good
perhaps I just misunderstood
I wonder how they get away
escaping on their feet of clay
spoken aloud it does seem strange
all my heroes are now free range

What? You idolize chickens?
Nifty & nimble, thanks.
I would never deny a breast or a thigh.

I would never deny a breast or a thigh.
Never deny a breast or a thigh
but greet each with an appreciative sigh
and when you’ve had several good sips
remember to dab genteely at your lips!

Hard to read without being reminded of that awful poem of the same name (http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/invictus/) he says, snootily.
One to write in heroic couplets, surely?
And I think Prince has had too much coffee with that poetic response...

I fancy myself an open book. In fact, some might say I'm like one of those talking books, but my consumption of coffee is one of the few things I do not choose to talk about. That and a certain night in April, 1985.

No more heroes.
They've been reintroduced to the wild.

This is my third attempt to comment on your poem, hack. The first two simply disappeared as I see. How do these things happen. Anyway, I find as refreshing as original when you use (your good) rhymes. Thanks.
