View Full Version : What are you afraid most in life?

In fact Fear in me has promoted me to choose this title. I have been living for the last twenty year with a fear. This is a deadly fear that is breeding disabling emotions. I write, talk, socialize and intensify my love affair just because I want to relieve myself of these lingering fears. I befriended people and married a beautiful lady just to escape the isolation that is gnawing on me. I visit clubs and dance at times to escape this fear yet to no purpose. I look alright socially, smile and interact with people but it is there all the time like my soul, of course building up its abode. In fact this is a personal experience I am sharing with all of you. Maybe this is one of the tricks of me to escape the Fear

Once again with a correct title I am getting it across you for your comments

What are you of most in life?
________________________________________
People are escaping all the time. They want to escape a variety of things, and some their enemies, some deaths, some their fiancés, some their parents and still some the wraths of God. Some of the loss of jobs, others the loss of their beloveds

Fear is lurking in us all time and nobody in this world is free of this syndrome. We have something within our cerebrums warning us all the time. Primitively a caveman was always running to escape the attack of a wild creature. This keeps us occupying us and we have this been carrying out since a prehistoric time.

And no one here on the forum is free of it or them. In fact we have bunches of fear and some fears melt away at the end of the day and others stick with us till the end of life.
I fear I may die all of a sudden. Fear that I may lose the love I am getting. Fear that I will be out of the circle of friends. Fear that our planet will be hit by a celestial body, a comet or some other astral objects.

Some fears are short-lived some pass after a certain time and others go up to our grave. I have lived with a great fear when I had fallen for a girl below my caste in my childhood. I loved thieving as a child and I always tried to escape it.

Nobody of us has lived rightly and conscientiously throughout our whole life and of course we might have committed some mistakes, small or big.

I hope all will share their fears. At times releasing the suppressed emotions of fear becomes the very panacea of it.

Share. Release and feel relieved…

I fear heights. not as much as I used to, but it still gets me a little frightened every time I jump off a cliff somewhere.

Also, I am just terrified by the absence of nothing, or at least the perception thereof.

Could you explain this?
It is the reverse of thinking there is 'something' whereas there really is nothing. When one thinks there is something, that frightens me.

I seem to remember that Kierkegaard explained the absence of even nothing rather well, or would have done if I'd been able to understand a word of it.

I used to be afraid of being forgotten, because it happens quite often, if not always. Now, thinking twice about it, I've come to conclude that I shouldn't have this fear anymore, given the unavoidable fact that the people I know (or most of them) will always have something better to remember than... me... unavoidably. I just need to learn how to move on without the need of being within someone's memory http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/scratch_one-s_head.gif

My psych prof told me that he believes that anxiety is the oldest and most basic emotion that we have. I can get behind that, anxiety can be VERY useful; especially if you're living in the wild and have to be concerned with your own survival. That being said, what I fear most in the whole world is anxiety, with an insomnia chaser. I guess I take the classic "the only thing to fear is fear itself" sentiment too seriously. I'm anxious about being anxious, and my fear of insomnia leads to insomnia. Stupid self-fulfilling proficy.

In fact all of us are more or less afraid of the things you have listed in point of fact though we have on purpose pushed them down to a level at which they remain layered, deposited, at times popping put to distress and depress us. We ignore them but they are on the loose can swallow us at any time. We just have to be circumspect

Not always ignored, blaze. You see, I know many people who have made a whole religion out of their fears. They live constantly up to them. These fears become a habitual part of their lives, carried and shown wherever they go. It's sad to see how some people escape from what they fear the most instead of facing it. And it's sadder to see how such fears rule their lives.

The one thing that also freaks me out a little every day are those daily aches and pains and weird stuff that happens with your body... I get a weird ache in my fingers or my thigh and wonder if I'm gonna have a heart attack or a blood clot... I have a weird cough and worry I have lung cancer...

I watched too much House a couple years ago lol

It's not obsessive but I do get on my nerves... :sosp:

I hope your fears pass Daniel... I'm rooting for ya! :hurray:

Daniel, I suppose I haven't been the best mentor of late, since I have used General Chat to WHINE (and what does that get me?) but don't fear failure too much. Failure is a teacher, and the wise learn from it.

Other than that, I won't indulge in the spirit of the question, since, like Nick Nolte, I have left body parts all over the forum:p.

Thanks guys!

I'm rather pitiful I know, but I've been getting MUCH better, especially in the past year.

Omg, but spiders. . . . .

Story: One time when I was living in Florida (this was about two or three years ago) I was sitting in my room on my computer, and the biggest ****ing spider crawled into my room. My God he was so scary and fast, he was about the size of my palm and I could practically see his hairs.

I screamed like a little girl and started shaking. The spider flashed across the room in a second under my bookshelf. I, a grown teenager, ran to my mommy and had her kill it. It took her some convincing but when she did, she didn't expect there to be so much blood and there was a big black stain on the carpet.

I hardly slept that night. Ughhhh.

I understand the feeling. I was attacked by dogs a couple times, and it's an experience you never forget. Like I can hardly ever trust a dog. I mean there are nice dogs I like, but I'm constantly prepared. People often say "oh, it's all right. It's a peaceful doggy incapable of doing harm". Well, peaceful doggies bit me twice, so I won't turn my back on them until I get a pair of eyes for my back.

I fear death, not because I have doubt of an afterlife but because it means leaving others behind to mourn.

I do not know how the actual process of dying will affect me mk, as I have been closer to it than I care for--twice where it might have been imminent--so I fear dying violently more than the actual abstract thought of death itself, but it makes me more angry than afraid, as life itself is punishing, and then we have to cease. I do not know why any creature needs that self-awareness, but then I stop thinking about it.:hurray:

Alright. I'll admit it.

I'm TERRIFIED of getting pregnant.

BUT: it's not my fault. My mom had me when she was seventeen, and ever since I was old enough to understand words she hammered the "do not get pregnant like some little hick and get stuck in this town!!! DO SOMETHING BETTER WITH YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!" thing into my brain until I had nightmares that there was some foreign parasite living in my abdomen and sucking my nutrients, thus leaving me nothing more than a dry husk of my former self.

When I see girls my age getting pregnant right out of school, my stomach churns. The thing is though, even when I'm like thirty or so and have my **** together, I'll still probably get nauseous at the idea of pregnancy.
