Sleep Forever More

Death awaited upon her lips
stolen with a kiss,
as red bloomed upon her cheek
for the fire that burned inside,

But her eyes were winter eyes,
brittle, yet hardened with the cold,
they pierced the flesh in a look
which brokered no compromise.

Her skin as white as the pale snow,
so easy to bruise
beneath the least indents left behind,
but she laughed beneath the grave
of leaves, which decayed
around her body.

Fingers rose like shallow roots
to devour precious nutrients
just along the surface of the flesh,
they burrowed in and drank dry
the host like a parasite,

But her smile was a beguile
for it borrowed from the spring,
there was sweetness in her scent
like the air after rain.

She could be in dreams
the beauty fallen from grace,
the damsel in distress,
and sleep forever more
when caught in her embrace
with twining arms of decadence.

It is eerie, and cinematic. I picture the leaf pile receding in time lapse and the ever finer fractal network of lines branching from fingertips.Very good Dark Muse, very dark...peace...

Sleep Forever More

She could be in dreams
the beauty fallen from grace,
the damsel in distress,
and sleep forever more
when caught in her embrace
with twining arms of decadence.

I thought this passage was more memorable! Good write :) Really enjoyed reading this dark themed poem
