porcelain face
dress of exquisite lace
curled hair
blank stare
a wanton whim
seemingly a childish sin
but necessity there
familiarity between the pair
skin of milk
adorned in finest silk
pretty and fair
sitting still upon the chair
no need to send her away
here she will stay
forever entertained
for dolly is here to play

at first I thought I might be thrown off by the rhymes being so close together, but as I read I liked the style. Well put together, and flowed nice to my read. :) and I'll throw in a smilie face

There is something penetrating inthis!

I can't think why I didn't comment on this when you first posted it, other than that I might not have known what to say - and I'm not sure I do now, at least with respect to the meaning of it, but the technique is sure and spare, and not one syllable of excess.

I really, really love this. Usually I tend to quibble when poets use end-rhymes and irregular meter but here I think the slight rhythmic variations and delays help. I love the flow of the imagery and the ambiguity as to whether you're merely describing a doll, if you're describing someone like a doll, or whether the doll is a metaphor. Really superb.

Quite an interesting one indeed. I loved it.
