I would like to know where to go within my Qur'an to find the best selections of stories from it--without reading it from cover to cover, at this point. Any suggestions?

Well, I haven't begun studying it yet, more than the first Sura, though I intend to read more as soon as I can get a physical copy... but I did read from another writer that many consider the Sura about Ya Sin to be a pivotal part of it, although I'm not aware if it's a story or not.

Hi Eric ... there are my chapters \ Suras which contain may great stories of different prophets & incidence that we have to learn about .
15 Sura Yusuf
2 Sura Al Baqara ( which is has most of stories & guide )
28 Sura Qasas which mean the Narrations of stories .. this could really be good

Do you have a Holy Quran .. or you would like to read it from a site :

Well I Qu'ran from my limited reading experience, is much different in narrative than the Bible. Stories presented in chronological order aren't really here, and the narrative is rather non-linear. Some Surrah's are like spiritual prayers or poems, while others tell stories. I would definitely reccomend the first two Surrahs as well as Ya-Seen and Ash-Shu'ara.

Hmmm that is an interesting question, along side everything else already said don't forget Mariam and Kahaf. Khaf is almost entirly made up of storeis while Mariam has 2 stories in it being the births And conception etc of John the Baptist ( Yahya) And Jesus ( Eesa) but also goes into other stuff.
Actually Ibraheim and Younis , you know what if its aned after a person there is usally a loinger story than in the others, although really all the surah even the shortest contain some story.

Hi eric, maybe you would like to check these Surah too.
1. Surah Ash-Shuara . (Ch. 26 Vs. 10)
2. Surah An-Naml (Ch.27 Vs.7)
3. Surah Al-Qasas (Ch.28)
4. Surah Ta-Ha (Ch. 20 Vs. 9)
5. Surah Al-A'raf (Ch. 7 Vs. 11-26 & Vs. 59-156)

I think Surah Al- A'raf may interest you as it has got many stories. You will sometimes find different strands of the same story in different surah. As you have got a copy of Quran you may easily go back to connect them. (You may find it helpful if you note down which Surah tells about which Prophet.)
