Once, as a principled young man,
I boldly stated that I would never
Write a love poem...
This was not on the basis that
I felt the genre out dated
But because it was a case of
Words wasted when the smile
On my face conveyed more
Than any metaphor I could form
For my love is flawless
And needs not be recorded
On paper, bound in a book
Lost in the halls of history
For my love is real to me
Now, and at this moment
I'm sincerely proud to announce
That this is not a love poem
But a toast to those who love
Living love poems
I boldly stated that I would never
Write a love poem...
This was not on the basis that
I felt the genre out dated
But because it was a case of
Words wasted when the smile
On my face conveyed more
Than any metaphor I could form
For my love is flawless
And needs not be recorded
On paper, bound in a book
Lost in the halls of history
For my love is real to me
Now, and at this moment
I'm sincerely proud to announce
That this is not a love poem
But a toast to those who love
Living love poems
