Hello,

I'm currently in a rut about The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte and Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy.

I'm writing about the issues of gender roles and sexuality in the two books, but my brain seems to refuse to function.

Does anyone have any good starting points for this topic?

In both books the sexual urges of the characters led them into difficult situations: Jude was seduced by Arabella into a marraige which ultimately led to his ruin and Helen by Arthur to the same. Though Helen had more ability to deal with her dilemma eventually, both were deeply handicapped by their short-sightedness.
