First of all, sorry for my English because i'm Portuguese. I would like to discuss this genre of literature with you. There are many writers who used the periodical system of newspapers and magazines to write their own stories such as Charles Dickens, Robert Louis Stevenson, Dumas, Balzac, Dostoievski, Tolstoy. Don't you think that cliffhangers and the waiting of the new chapter were really exciting at that time? People would read like crazy, and buy newspapers just to read the new part of the story, what happened to their favorite character. Nowadays, the same thing applys to manga, for example, that is consumed by teenagers anxiously waiting for the new chapter of their comics isn't it? Or the fox television series, and the soap operas! But those are just bad versions of the original idea of grabbing the reader to be always waiting for what comes next! And not to speak of the money the writers did with this methodology! What do you think of all this? Do you know any book that was one periodical story in his time? Share! (One again, sorry for my English) Daniel D.
