I lay prostrate and buried under fifty feet of scorching sand
on this damp Lebanese beach.
I inhale the scratchy sound the grains make when they rub against each other,
while the humans inhale their cigarette smoke and air-conditioned “oxygen.”
The feathery yet sturdy sand begins to seep into my veins,
flowing inside me as a baby does in a pregnant mother’s watery stomach.
My cells are so drenched with the lucid sand,
while the people’s veins howl gloomily, intoxicated with heroin, beer, and worldly materialism.
The great wise eye in my mind opens, while my material and superficial “eyes” close.
As the sand now engulfs my mind and caresses this eye,
a luminous gift is unwrapped inside me:
look who truly loves me – look who views me as naïve and mocks me.
This supreme sand could truly give no greater enlightenment to me.
So, I ask you, “human” –
would you lay with me under this omniscient sand,
so you too could restore your essence and open the mind in your eye?
You will see with me, that there is no God – for you are that God –
and the earth wishes so badly to make you a human again.
