Hello,
I am looking for the origins of a matter that is philisophical in nature, granted that pertains to almost everthing. In the past I read a piece of literature containing a story about human nature, with regards to why humans do not tell the truth, and containing some horses who simply did not understand why humans do not tell the truth. The horses were so grateful for the ability to communicate that they simply could not fathom why one would want to taint such a beautiful gift by manipulating it with lies. I cannot remember which peice of literature, or by which author, this story came from. The horses' defense of the sanctity of language and communication along with their confusion as to why humans had created the ability to lie was the main focus. Can anyone help me find out where this story is from? Thank you.

The story Violetlis refers to would appear to be Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift.

Certainly is Gulliver's Travels.

Read it online right here for free (http://www.online-literature.com/swift/gulliver/)at LitNet!

The section you refer to is right at the end, but the King of Brobdingnag makes some astute observations on humans as well, so do read it all.

Superb book!
