the interloper came, thinking he could shoehorn
her into the ebony ivory and cedar corporeal
body that he deemed love, the tamarisk memorial
into which all must go who have been to humans born
o set! her black locks shorn, her gray gown rent, and the last leg
of the journey spent, she retrieved the log
that had, in mercy, ferried her across the night of tears and fog
bring him, o bring him back I beg I beg I beg
and as the waters of the river rise, she hovers, wings outspread, as Isis
eats the thirteenth piece, delays the crisis

Qimissung

I wrote this for a lark, but I like it.

This is truly excellent and I noticed that this is your addition to the Boutes-Rimes thread as well; which shows sometimes even a silly game can produce some great poetry. My favorite are those three lines beginning with "o set!". Maybe I should post my last Boutes-Rimes piece...

One person's "lark" might be another person's act of inspired genius!

I take the grave decision to designate your poem to be a shrine...
(I felt the upheaval of the earth's crust...)
what a fine reading! thanks!

In the hope that more people will read & comment on this fine poem.

In Boute Rimes, I wasn't going to touch these line endings with a ten foot pole.

You did it masterfully. Kudos!

Hi qim... In reading this I immediately thought of Maya Angelou's "A Woman Should Have" poem. Loved it!
