Happy Birthday! :)
A birthday thread without a cake? It can't be! :D

An interview with Skib:
Why are we doing this interview thing?
Because it makes me feel special.
Are you sure you want to do this?
Between this and being otherwise productive, which would you choose? ;)
Got milk?
Oh yes. Lots and lots of milk. And cookies, too. Anybody up for milk and cookies?
Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
Paperleaves. She admitted to it.
If you had a personal theme song what would it be?
Um . . . overall it would probably be a toss up between Chris LeDoux's Horsepower or Justin McBride's Cowboy Till I Die.
Are you male or female?
Last time I checked I was a dude.
What makes you keep coming back?
Oh goodness . . . habit, good humor, oodles and oodles of different opinions, productive discussions, usable feedback, good advice, etc etc. The usual things I don't get on fb.
Are you happy with the way things are here?
Absolutely. I think the moderators do a wonderful job of keeping things organized and appropriate, and the site's inhabitants get along quite well given the oftentimes very clashing opinions. There's never a shortage of opinions!
Which countries have you visited?
O Canadia . . . that's about it. I guess some people could consider Texas a different country too. I'm quite well versed in my own area of the world, but I'm certainly not an extensive foreign traveler.
How do you like your home town?
Less and less every day. I hate to be negative about it, but the bigger it gets the less friendly it gets. Kind of a by-product of progress, we could say.
If you could live somewhere different, where would it be and why?
Hmm. Well, I would love to live up in Jackson County/North Park, CO. It is more of the lifestyle I enjoy, more of the kind of people I get along with. I think it would be swell to live in Ireland for a bit (even though I've never been there) and I think Australia would be an adventure too. If all else fails I'll be a hermit up in the mountains somewhere. :D
Do you have any pets?
I've got a hypothetical tapeworm named Gunther. We're good buddies.
What makes you happy?
This could be a quite extensive list . . . I'll hit the high points. My family and their ability to put up with me and even make me laugh when I don't want to, and my best friend because he's the only one with the cajones to whack me in the face when I need it. Besides that, working with horses is the one thing that makes me feel better when everything else is in the crapper. I don't actually have to be working with them. Just being around them makes my world a nicer place to be.
What is mankind's biggest achievement, and its greatest downfall?
Well, it should be something epic, shouldn't it? The pencil. It was the gateway to portable writing. No more toting around all these stupid feathers and ink bottles.
Our greatest downfall: any kind of monetary system. Money corrupts, it inflates, and he who has the most is king. I'm all for a barter system.
Do you feel comfortable in your walk with God/atheism?
Sure am. I've given both viewpoints a shot, and I didn't like either one. There's too much that I don't know. I don't have anything to prove God(s) exist, but I don't have anything to prove God(s) don't exist either. I'm perfectly content to say 'I dunno . . .'
Which actor should play you in a movie based on your life?
Woody Harrelson. I'm not a hundred percent sure why, but it seems like a good fit.
Given the option, what animal would you choose to be?
A badger, of course! Who doesn't want to be the meanest, toughest, littlest sucker to crawl the earth?
What were your favorite things to do the past? What about now?
Let me tell you a little story: When I was seven years old, my Grandpa put me in the drivers seat of his hunting truck, an old Dodge pickup and taught me how to drive it. Here's another story: When I was around five or six years old, Grandpa got me my first pellet rifle. I shot the heck out of it, crawling around the hills up in Jackson County, CO, exploring every canyon and mountaintop I could find.
Now, what do I do for fun today? I get in that old Dodge pickup, I drive somewhere, and I get out my gun and I go walk around in the mountains. Not much has changed.
What makes you feel great about yourself?
Whiskey. On a more serious level, my pride. I take pride in the work I do, the skills I have, the company I keep, and my sense of honesty. And let me tell you- nothing is more awful than the days that my work is crap, my skills don't show and my friends don't like me!
How did you meet your significant other?
Um, I'm actually still waiting on her to figure out she's my significant other.
Who inspires you most?
My grandfather. He was born in La Junta, Colorado, and when he was twelve years old, there wasn't enough room in the house for him so he kicked out the chickens and lived in the chicken coop. Today, he is one of the most successful businessmen in the city. He taught me how to hunt, how to process my own animals, how to drive, and he has spent hours with me, giving me advice on everything from women to work to family issues.
What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)
I'm naturally good at breathing. I wouldn't say I'm naturally good at anything extraordinary. I'm quite good with animals, quite goot
What is the one thing you must do before you die?
One thing I must do before I die . . . hmm. The one thing I must do might be the last thing I ever do, but I'd love to ride an elk.
If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
Underwater basket weaving. Totally up my alley.
What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?
Having a life, maybe? My life seems to revolve around work any more.
Do you feel the divine spark of life within you or do you consider yourself a mechanical thing?
I'm pretty mechanical. Things seem to be breaking, falling off, wearing out, etcetera.
What method do you cherish above all others, as means to improving your life?
My goodness! This certainly involves a lot of life-examination! I guess it was voluntary torture though. :D My willingness to learn. I'm for the most part willing to learn something, as long as I can see the value in it. Things that don't fall into this category would be akin to math, physics, chemistry . . . philosophy. :p
What is your role in an emergency situation: the 911 dialer, the person who runs to the scene to help, the video recorder, or the person too overcome by shock to do anything?
I'm Pump'n'Blow certified. I'll be running to the scene thank you very much.
What one thing would you NEED to have on a deserted island if you didn't have to worry over food and water?
A magic lamp.
What song is in your head at the moment?
Beyond the Sun- Shinedown
Which book are you reading at the moment?
I've been working on East of Eden for three and a half months, I'm starting Sarah Palin's book Going Rouge, and as always, my Modern Automotive Technology textbook.
The last book you finished reading?
I haven't actually finished a book in a long time! I have no idea . . .
What is your favourite quote?
I think my favorite quote as of right now was my boss last summer, Dickie Prince. He's this grumpy old redneck from Tennessee and he was talking to one of our guests who was from Norway, and on top of that, he had a speech impediment. After three repeats of one sentence, Dickie finally looked at the kid and said 'It's all right son. I talk funny too.'
Favorite food?/ Comfort food?
Grilled elk tenderloin/Milk
What time of day do you most often find yourself on the LitNet?
Most consistently between 8-11pm, but if I'm not at work I'm probly on.
What are you wearing at the moment?
Jeans and Twisted X cowboy boots. Shirts are overrated.
Favorite poem?
It was an untitled poem written by a girl I went to high school with. I don't remember her name though.
First novel you remember reading on your own?
If I recall, it was about Sitting Bull and I was in second or third grade.
What era do you find most of the books you read are from?
Umm, I'm actually not too particular. Generally speaking though, the older it is, the harder I find it to understand and enjoy.
Favorite TV shows?
I'm not generally a big TV watcher, but my sister has gotten me hooked on a few- Stargate: Atlantis, SG1, Sanctuary, and most recently Dexter.
Which LitNet members would you like to meet in person if you could?
I'm actually planning my round-the-world trip to meet them all, so get ready. I'll be knocking on your door shortly.
Last words you said out loud?
Something dirty, I'm sure. Compliments of Coloradoans being scared of getting their little Prius's stuck on a clump of snow.
Last person you hugged/kissed?
Hugged: mi madre .I don't kiss people. So it was probably my pony Pinto back in September.
What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going? And are you happy with your chosen profession?
I work for a living. I've gone through five professions in the last two years- I was a houskeeper for a summer, a hunting guide for a fall/winter, a lawncare dude for a month, a wrangler for another summer, and now I'm a dog trainers assistant. I'm somewhat happy with my lifestyle, if not overly thrilled with the current situation. But yeah, I'm happy as heck that I have a chosen
profession, even if I'm not in it yet!
What question would you like to ask yourself?
"What in the world is wrong with you?!?!?"
What would you like to be if you could change your profession?
An interplanetary criminal.
What is your most outstanding feature?
My hat. It's cool.
If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would that be?
Nothing. Wait . . . I lied. I'd like to not be quite so skinny. I look anorexic.
Which book do you wish you had written?
The pirates code. How cool would that be?
What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?
Eating my second lunch. Other than that, nothing. I got my rent paid, and it's snowing so I don't have to work! Yay!
If you could only rescue one item from your burning house, what would it be, and why?
Just one? Pooey. My double gun case. I'm already getting depressed about all the other things I wouldn't be able to save. :bawling:
Wonderful Superman or depressing Batman?
Batman, dude! He uses his brain to fight crime, not just his ridiculously big muscles! And my dad's name is Bruce Wayne. Seriously. No, Wayne is not my last name.
Anything that you want to forget but you never can?
That's a toss up. There are certainly a lot of things that bother me to no end, but its the things that bother us or that we wish we could forget that shape us into who we are. Well, there is one thing I don't think I benefited from by living through. But for the most part, nope.
Tell us about some amusing translation mistake you have heard or made yourself.
If I could speak any other languages, I'm sure I would have something, but I'm drawing a blank here. I took just enough German to know it wasn't for me.
Are you mostly happy with life or are you still in pursuit?
I'm happy with the pursuit.
What type of Faerie would you like to be and why?
Is there a difference between the fairies that have an 'E' instead of an 'I?' I'm not very good Faery/fairy material, anyway.
What makes you laugh?
The usually funny things. My best friends' and my stupid adventures that sometimes end in near peril always make me laugh.
What part of “Final” don’t you understand?
The thing that always bothers me is that there's always another "Final" after the "Final." So it's never actually "Final."
One final word of wisdom for LitNet users?
Wisdom? From me? Good joke! The only thing close to wisdom I have to impart is: have fun. Life without fun just . . . isn't fun.

Hey Skib! I hope you had a great day! Sorry i missed it! Was in "o Canadia" ;)
Oh and as for the faerie question. Faerie with the E means the faerie race. A Fairy with and I is a part of this race. you can be anything from Black Annis, to a GreyMalkin, to Brownies, to Elves, to a pooka, to a waterhorse, to a member of the unseelie attriod.
Oh goodness! I had no idea I had so many choices! Thanks Niamh! ;)
