I am sure I am not alone in this experience. I am often " not ready" to read certain authors. I am thrilled with recently reading "Crime and Punishment". Its funny , I have attempted to read it before and couldn't get in the flow . I just finished it and it was a great and rewarding book to read. I find that I need to come back to books often and give them a second chance with a different frame of mind. Naturally I am now hooked on reading more Dostoevsky.

I first read Crime And Punishment thirty-seven years ago in 1972. It was the first work by Dostoevsky I read. Every three or four years since then I have read a book by Dostoevsky, and I still haven't read all his work. I'm currently reading A Raw Youth which is one of his later works. It's not his best work by any means, but it stands out because it's a colder less intense work than his other books.
