I'm the kind of the reader who goes through phases. For example, for a while I was in a kind of Western phase, so I read Cormac McCarthy's 'No Country for Old Men' and 'Blood Meridian'. Then I was in a road trip phase, so I read, 'On the Road', and 'Dharma Bums' and 'Big Sur', all by Mr. Kerouac.
But now I'm in a bit of a palm trees, Caribbean, Key West kind of mood and I'd love to read a book or two with the book set in Key West. Anybody have any suggestions? The reason I say Key West is because I'm going there for vacation in a few weeks and I'd like to get my mind excited. Thanks.

I can't think of any books set specifically in Key West, but if you are in a Caribbean / palm trees mood then Hunter S Thompson's Rum Diary is a fun read (set in Puerto Rico)
actually I think Hemingway's To Have and Have Not was set around the Keys

Have you seen "Key Largo"? Directed by John Huston, with Bogart, Bacall, Edward G. Robinson... A classic... It has a hotel/vacation theme :)

To Have and Have Not by Hemingway is set in Key West. I've not read it myself, but Hemingway is normally enjoyable. I'm not sure it would put me in the light frame of mind I would like for a trip to Key West, but it fits the bill:D
