You have the right not to read this poem.
If you do not exercise that right
and do choose to read this poem,
you have the right not to say anything
for or against it.
You have the right to appoint someone
to read and respond to it for you.
If you cannot afford someone
to read and respond to it for you,
someone will be appointed on your behalf.
Do you understand these rights as they have been read to you?

I do - and am awed. One warning is enough - Goes without saying this is said by my attorney, just in case. I am arrested :brow: by your excellent, unusual, so original a poem! Goodness me.

You understand, I assume, that everything you wrote can and will be used against you!

Well, you have been warned: you won't threaten my client beyond the allowed! As for me, you should assume, I studied Miranda warning and rights during my first year courses at the Dept. of Law...
You have been warned:
in a crack of a second
fate can fade away
shadows speak
people improve
or they can better others,
too.

I like the idea of this poem (not sure about the entire wording) but it is a refreshing change from your usual topics, Prince.

I note that you (or your legal representatives)
have chosen to reply
in a manner commonly known
as "free verse."
Believe me, as you might shortly discover,
no verse is altogether free!
I like this poem, words and all.
Awesome job, Dude! No, but seriously, awesome job, dude.
But surely, you joust!

This made me chuckle, but it was a fully legal chuckle, and I want some kind of immunity regardless.

Me, I'm a charter member of the Witless Protection Program.
Well, I must say that one Wit less or more won't affect the functioning of the Program.

I choose not to read it. :p
Only kidding. It's cute, but it needs some imaginative leap for it to transcend.

You're too right. "Cute" is all I felt I could claim for it and the/a transcendent leap, if one was to be had, eluded me.

I'm with Virgil; it's cute and rather witty but it left me with only a momentary smile which is unusual for your pieces. I'm not sure what it needs though... maybe a more metaphoric take on the subject to tie it to... something. I dunno, my critical powers are failing me right now!
