promise
if promises were made as hard as diamonds
it might not be so easy to break them
might not be so easy to make them
if forced to live by your spoken word
would the world be a silent place
a promise so fragile a thing
so delicate in detail
beautiful to behold inspiring trust
innocence so bold
so easy to break so easy to replace
promises from lovers to loved ones
with smiles and hugs
such a addicting drug
they pour from your lips
like so many bubbles bursting in the air
broken promises shattering hearts
killing dreams
floating in tears
like so many dead
fish in acid rain
promise just another hollow word
I wish I never heard
you cant touch it it has no weight
no meaning just a empty
word
dark
Guillotine Dreams
Memories of other times lost in shambling aging minds
cold stark sharper than surgical steel
razor sharp primed for the kill
guillotine dreams fill my head
like times sharp edge decapitating memories from my head
a month a year something lost I held dear
a face, some place, lost love and heart break
child hood tales repeated in desperation to hold back the years
shifting growing changing with out you knowing
cut away with surgical skill cauterized scars unwilling to heal
climbing the stairs year after year you face the fear
guillotine dreams of sand slipping through your hands
Time
memories dark shrouded executioner
cavorts and leers at you from some black corner of your brain
pulls the lever flashing blade drops
as you scream another piece of you is lost
perhaps some unrealized dream
or a fond memory of a past love
taps gently playing in the mist
for memories gone decapitated by time
sadly not even missed
ignorance is bliss
as the headsman dumps gore filled basket
dropped into the abyss
and slowly rases times guillotine blade
until finally when the last memory fades
smiling beckoning you to your cold lonely grave
dark
if promises were made as hard as diamonds
it might not be so easy to break them
might not be so easy to make them
if forced to live by your spoken word
