I wonder what everyone here on LitNet will be doing to celebrate the new year. I myself will be sipping some good wine, listening to Steely Dan, and reading some things here on LitNet, and under no circumstances sticking my neck outside. (There are too many crazies out there--especially tonight.)

I'm 62--that explains everything as far as I'm concerned.

Wow, 62. Enjoy your reading. It is New Years Day here in Melbourne. And our New Years Eve was good and bad. Bad because we were in the city and it pounded down rain, so the family fireworks were delayed, they went off as we were on our way home on the train. We didn't stay to watch them as it was getting late and the families usually leave the city by 9.30pm or at least 10.00pm to allow all the not so family orientated people to party until they drop... Literally.

Bloody hell, happy new year!

For me, the year started with babysitting an awfully drunken friend in the snowy streets, keeping him out of fights, explaining things to his mother, trying to get his sort-of-girlfriend there to cool him down and get him home etc. - and all that with a person I used to heavily dislike.
Don't misunderstand me - I liked it. It made me feel useful and the previously loathed person gained a degree of respect in my eyes. And, of course, it was fun. And I do love that drunken friend. Still. So, I gather that this beginning is a good omen, since you know.
The year.
Measure it in love.
Yeah.

Lynne I am so glad you started this thread. I am really behind this year and I, too, wanted to wish everyone here a great New Years!

Wow, I love that, Taliesin...."measure it in love."....that is really excellent. I think this might be a good year and hoping a turning point for me and my family.
