I'm looking for a biography about a GREAT man, a HERO, a role model for everyone of us. A biography about a man that had a purpose and wanted to do something GREAT! I want to read about a TRUE hero!

Why restrict it to men?

Hmm, the Bible? Whether you believe it's fiction or non-fiction, Jesus is quite the hero. I've never actually read it though, so...

And I agree with Brian Bean, why not a GREAT woman, a TRUE heroine? :p

I strongly recommend that you find a biography on Nikola Tesla - one of the greatest scientist and genius that has walked the Earth. His contributions are enormous to the field of modern life and many of his inventions are still not used or understood even today.

EDIT:
Here's a video about his work:

Begin writing now. Greatness can be determined by what is overcome. I look forward to its publication.

Just As I Am: The Autobiography of Billy Graham

One of the most respected men of our time, an adviser to many US presidents, and so politically incorrect as to assure you of censure from most of your friends.

The Greek Treasure by Irving Stone is a great biography of Heinrich Schliemann, the archaeologist whose excavation of the site of Troy along with his Mycenaean excavation showed that Troy actually existed and that Homer's Iliad and Virgil's Aeneid reflected actual historical events. It's a fascinating book.
