Yes, it is that time of the year again! Shopping, gift-exchaning, over-eating and... getting older!
Take a deep breath and tell us how old you will be in 2010!

How fast the time flies.. Next year, I'll move a level lower down the Litnet age bracket. I am turning twenty. :|
Farewell, teenage years. It was fun while it lasted.

I'm now 46, but since around the age of 43, I've had difficulty remembering. I think it is a symptom of contentedness, and not the rampant senility my wife attributes to me.
For all you cuspian 30s and 20s - getting older is easy. You stop worrying about most of the things that harass and depress you in younger years.
I'll start worrying again when I start dribbling in public.

I have the same problem Paul. What Sleepywitch is referring to and I replied back right above yours is that last year I swore I was about to turn 48 when I was actually turning 47. I even told Scher that my age was listed incorrectly. But then my wife reminded me I was turning 47, not 48. What had happened was that the few months leading to my birthday, i had already factored in my new age of 47, but then i forgot i was calculating ahead when my birthday arrived and had convinced myself I was 47 and now was to turn 48. Senility!!!
Janine
12-29-2009, 08:51 PM
Definitely senility, Virg! especially if you argued about it last year and you were wrong. I always get my mother's birthday wrong; always a year off...but then, she has had a tremendous amount of birthdays to recall. I actually don't get my own birthday wrong, since mine is the same as the year - even/odd numbered. Born in 1950, so each time I am the same last number. 1962 - I was 12, 1970 - I was 20...see what I mean? Otherwise, I am sure I would forget what year it was, too and how old I am. Hate to admit to this next birthday. Come on voters, there must be more than just me and that other person in the 60-64 category. Fess up now!

That's exactly what hapened to me as well. Thinking -lamenting? - ahead. My wife also knows my age better than I do. I think I began when I was leaving the physical peak of 43. The rollercoaster is well underway now!:D
The young 'uns will be thinking we're insane!

Hang in there...it levels out after awhile...senility seems to be setting in and then one gets their second-wind and their mind suddenly sharpens in older age....at least my own theory. I am getting there now....hahah...I actually can answer more Jeopardy questions, than I used to. Maybe you guys will suddenly recall your correct ages, as you get older.

I am old, my beard is grey
I live but for the breaking day
For in the moment of the dawn
I feel my youth, not yet foresworn
Linger, with the fading dream
Of what I was, not how I seem
To those who know me now.
My eye was sharp, my waist was slim
With confidence I’d wander in
To any gathering, any place
Attracted by my natural grace
Fair maidens would my favour seek
And stay much longer than a week
Which wouldn’t happen now.
I have my memories of sin
A pleasant place to linger in
But new adventures, they are few
And fading like the morning dew
My looks are not as once they were
Experience is not the spur
For those who know me now.
My wit is quick, my mind is sharp
About lost loves I shall not carp
Not lost my talent to create
Who says that I must have a mate
I populate the naked page
With characters from any age
They keep me company now.
A fantasist, who says I am?
In time I’ll have so many fans
And money will come pouring in
The royalties won’t look too thin
And in my garret I’ll not starve
My name, on high, will masons carve
I’ve fame and fortune now.
The birds, I have to fight ‘em off
Dam’ Gold diggers, nose to trough;
Their endless beating at my door
My plan, it seems, possessed a flaw
Perhaps I should’ve stayed anonymous
My name, with failure, left synonymous
I’d best stop writing now!
Naomi! Claudia! I said not now; I’m trying to work!

27 has snuck (sneaked, besnook?) up on me, I know it's been said by practically every person who has ever aged, but wow, time does really begin to go faster as you go. Probably because you start doing less memorable things.

I don't know. I would think adults do more memorable things than children, and yet it goes slower for children. I think it's the routine of adult life that makes everything just blurr together.
