Enduring Strength

English Spinach
starts freshly rinsed
gets mashed into mush

Zest of lemon
mirrors bitterness within
processed green sludge

Shields of garlic keep
vampires at bay
yet seem pungent to others

Softened cream cheese
lightens the snotty hue
to grossly unattractive

In the end
English Spinach
is still made of iron
