I was just going to search for Tagore's poems and I went to a quotes page instead... they are really good! Here are some I especially liked:

"Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man."

"Death is not extinguishing the light; it is only putting out the lamp because the dawn has come."

"Music fills the infinite between two souls."

I read some of the poems from his "The Gardener" and absolutely enjoyed it. I might as well join you:

"Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time like dew on the tip of a leaf."

"In the world's audience hall, the simple blade of grass sits on the same carpet with the sunbeams, and the stars of midnight."

"All the great utterances of man have to be judged not by the letter but by the spirit — the spirit which unfolds itself with the growth of life in history."

Here's some more:
"Age considers; youth ventures."

By plucking her petals, you do not gather the beauty of the flower.

Death is not extinguishing the light; it is only putting out the lamp because the dawn has come.

And my personal favorite:

Depth of friendship does not depend on length of acquaintance.

Rabidranath Tagore wrote Gitanjali and that book got great acclaim globally.
He got the noble prize for literature. There is some discrimination in awarding the noble prize and mostly it is awarded to the Europeans and the Asians get discriminated. Tagore wrote so beautifully that the committee got compelled to award him.

Does anyone know where this comes from?

Unity in Diversity

'We are all the more one because we are many,
For we have made ample room for love in the gap where we are sundered.
Our unlikeness reveals its breadth of beauty radiant with one common life,
Like mountain peaks in the morning sun.'
