View Full Version : Prince Charming or Knight in Shining armour?

Mrs Dalloways birthday thread reminded me that i wanted to ask this question of litnet a while ago but forgot!
So here is the important question....
Who would you rather sweep you off your feet. Prince Charming, or a Knight in shining armour?

Not sure... I like both. Can it be a charming knight in shining armor who happens to be a prince? :D I found mine anyway so yeah. XD
Hooray for my constant indecisiveness!

Can we choose both? P.C is in touch with our feelings and holds us when we cry. The knight rescues us and solves our problems; but may not be as big on hygiene and spends alot of time out with the boys:D
I chose Prince Charming:D

Ah yes! but prince charming is also a wimp who hides behind his daddy and mammy. :p
the Knight will beat the crap out of your stalking ex if need be, where the Prince would probably get the Knight to do it for him. Coward.

The Knight! Seriously, armors should become fashionable again...
Night in Shining Armor - I have been waiting for him to come and sweep me off my feet, but alas, nothing...
Seriously, we need a more modern mythology.

The Knight. I equate 'Knight in Shining Armour' with being a smelly, Boy's Boy sort of guy, who wants to eat some fried chicken, drink beer and play video games. I equate Prince Charming with being sort of suave, two-faced, and spoiled rotten, the jock sort of type, with too-white teeth and a penchance for big titted blond girls.
^^Virgil, I expect an answer and explanation for said answer from you, on my desk by Monday! 1000 words!

And what, pray tell, is wrong with big-titted blond girls, eh?:brow:
Ummm.... my wife's standing behind me, isn't she? I meant "brunette girls", dear, seriously... ow!

hm... I would have to say the Knight. Because I think of a prince as a unintelligent kind of kid who is a snob. And if you're a knight, you usually look pretty dang sweet in that shining armor and all. :)

Who needs to be rescued.... hmmm.... everyone, at specific episodes of life, including people who are not willing to admit it. I would really love to be rescued by a princess in shining armor and full weaponry, though if she were a humble peasant with any pike-like object, it would be just fine for me. The point is that the lady wields anything that resembles a weapon and, of course, that she has the interest in rescuing this humble guy that I am. Just that and I'll be willing to be rescued

Probably some armor designers had that issue in mind, though I wouldn't bet on it

Knight. I am one of them. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (only joking) But prince charming is more beautiful then knight because knights are home in battlefield. But I think that prince charming is hero which is equal to knight in shining armor. They are both good guys!

I have never seen the attraction of a villain; what's more, I find the "noble" qualities of a "knight" endearing beyond words... Those and a little geekiness!

Well, there are people with all sorts of tendencies. Like those who prefer being beaten instead of a respectful treatment. And I'm not talking necessarily about physical beating. For example, I have an uncle who has admitted that he has lived in some kind of a constant hell since the day he got married, talking about his family and how they treat him, but he insists on staying with them under the same roof, after all the alleged humiliations, even after my aunts have given him the option to move to their house. He has an option to be rescued, and I'm not sure, but maybe he's a masochist and doesn't really want some respect for himself in his final years.

Fair enough  Sure I want the knight, but I would prefer the armor be black or a bit dented. I've always loved the bad boy who's just good enough to make it work. Then again, I found mine a long time ago so I'm not looking for anyone to come a sweep me off my feet :D

If nobody minds me thowing a spanner in the works, what would be wrong with a Knight in Shining Armour who was incredibly charming and with lacy cuffs under the tinplate? I've often fancied myself in the role, except that the nearest I've got to a trusty steed is my old bike.

How about a dark knight? :)
Well in one of my stories there is a white knight, who is supposed to protect me (i am not female btw). He does a pretty good job too. Now if i can summon him to life, it would be very usefull to have control of such a slashing power...

Ha! Tales of derring-do, Celtic myths, dark stories form the Mabinogion, whole packs of lies, that sort of thing? Distinctly possible!

I can see problems with both. The knight needs his princess to be in constant peril (and we all know what happens to the action hero's girlfriend eventually). And Prince Charming is equally charming to everyone. As one of the Prince Charmings said in Into the Woods, "I was raised to be charming, not sincere."

Neither. Villains are always best, they tend to be more charismatic and true to their nature. So if we're sticking with the medieval theme, I prefer Morgana le Fay/Mordred/the Green Knight etc. over those repressed vanilla dorks Arthur/Lancelot/Gawain etc..
Edit: Oh look, past Juniper agrees with me:

These days I agree with Juniper, villains are way better. In our time of popular superheroes, (all of a sudden it's cool to be a nerd, it wasn't when I was in school) the villain is the best part of a story. Loki (not just in the movies but in the old stories) is the greatest character ever in my opinion.
My son tells everyone that I always take the bad guys side in movies, they are just way cooler, most of the times.
