View Full Version : Looking at truth thru others' eyes

We have the capacity to observe truth. But we choose to borrow others' eyes to look at it.

We want someone to tell what truth is. We live life but we want others to explain to us what life is.

We do not beleive in ourselves and when some scholars tell us the truth of life we already know with their pompous words we hold their ideas.

We look at ourselves thru others eyes. In fact if others do not approve of what we say we become skeptical of ourselves.

We choose a job others approve of it, or the standard or measurement of what you do is the approval of others.

We live for others and most of what we do in life is instigated or motivated by what others want of us.

That is why we are stressful and pass insomniac nights, thinking of others as to what they are thinking about us.

That is the cause of our malady and this unnatural behavior of us.
We are not what we are,but what others see we are.

We have been seeking a judge to tell us whether or not what we naturally do is right or wrong.

If they approve of our wrong that becomes our right and vice versa.

This is the idea I arrive at and this is open for discussion.

I think that all you have said is true.
Is authenticy even possible. Is it possible in this day and time to be authentic, to be ourselves.

Ahhh, the perception theory. Excellent expression :)

Unfortunate but true. These days we seem to be hellbent on pleasing others rather than just being ourselves. Wonder how that came about?

When every one looks at the other (s)as the source of truth it won't be a truth anymore . It is just point of view (s).It can be right or wrong .
The other is ( a point of reference ,a role ) I should play to see myself from a distance.I can't see myself to know what I am or what I want to be unless I play this role. From this perspective the notion of the other is very inportant to us .

It is a real disaster if the other is my judge!!! God forbid :)
Thx God there is a truthful God to judge me .

You are very creative in expressing your thoughts on these pages Blaze :hurray:

That is the cause of our malady and this unnatural behavior of us.
We are not what we are,but what others see we are.

I have witnessed some people say we should follow others' views about us rather than believing in ourselves. This is dangerous. To those who think this I recommend that its better to fail over and over doing it YOUR WAY than to ever allow others views to control your life. :leaving:

Noesis
Noesis, as we are using it here, is the soul’s capacity to be aware of itself not only as pure awareness, and not only as the content of experience, but to be aware directly of forms arising in the field of consciousness. This capacity for discriminating awareness that is not governed by the alienation of the subject-object view, and that does not separate discriminated content from the field of presence/consciousness in which it is arising, turns out to be a powerful tool for the soul’s realization of its own nature and the nature of Reality.
