I write and read a ton of short stories. The walls of my study are floor to ceiling collections by a wide variety of authors. Looking forward to getting to know everyone here and their work. Also any tips on how this site works would be appreciated. I write scripts, fiction -- live in LA. Male.

p.s. stupid question: what is the "tags" box for?

No idea what the tags box is for. The thing I found most important when I joined: get ready for some seriously honest criticism. Glad to have you!

Thanks, everyone. Here' s a cool quote, not sure of the origin:

Don't wait until the time is right to begin -- beginning makes the time right.

Hi, my name is wlz. I am a new member, (just registered in fact). I also write stories or, should I say that I try to write stories...? I have been working on a second novel throughout the year though the story hasn't turned out well for me and I was considering the delete button as a healthy option. Do you fancy sharing some ideas, criticism and techniques? I am a despairing unpublished kind-of-author of fiction from Ireland. Do you have a degree in literature? Talk soon, (I hope), wlz.

Hi WLZ, I don't have a university degree, more self-taught and a promiscuous reader. I am an alum Writers Boot Camp in LA which is the Harvard of Screenwriting Schools. I use the Tools I learned there for my fiction writing as well. I develop my short stories the same way I write movies: from a Conceptual Component standpoint (as opposed to the linear way most people approach things). I haven't had much time to really familiarize myself with this site and how it works. Looking forward to doing that. Give me a week or two to make some holiday progress on my projects and then try me again. Right now I'm off to bed. Cheers.
