Silver dust motes dancing in a
Comfortable silence.
Scrolls faintly reminiscent of Egypt papyri
Are scattered on the window seat.
Shelves and shelves full of
incunabulum
crumbling into wine dark Time.
Books stacked waist-high, alluring,
along seductive crimson walls.
Rich rosewood violin
glowing in the dusky light,
reclining on a bottle green cushion.
The statues of men standing along the walls
Are uncannily half-sentient,
guarding the Rose upon the Rood of Time-
The decadent blue globe that symbolizes the World.
The old-leather solace of a patchwork divan,
waiting for a tired mind to comfort itself with
A
book.

This is a wonderful piece that captures the sensory textures of "library" - which is in quotes because it could just as easily depict any old room where you keep your books and you keep to yourself for those moments of sinking into their worlds. My only complaint is putting "A / book" on two separate lines. Reeks of too much obvious line manipulation and I don't think it helps the sentiment. "A book" on a single line is laconic enough.
