Hi all:
I am a new member at this forum. I am an English literature student in contact with Open University I England. I wondering if there are any one could help me in this following question cause I don’t have enough information about the Englishness ideology .I will be grateful to all.
The question is as follow:
Discuss the ideology of Englishness as reflected in any two texts of two different genres in your course.
Student Notes:
You may begin by commenting on the different definitions available for ideology in general and what is meant be Englishness. Then choose examples from the many short stories like, “A Sahib’s War" and "Indian Summer of an Uncle,” and from the poetry of poets such as Robert Bridges, John Betjeman, and Philip Larkin. Make sure to quote specific textual examples while discussing aspects or events in the texts that endorse Englishness as a dominant ideology or challenge and satirize it. Is the ideology stated directly or is it hidden? Refer to the critical ideas of Pierre Macherey and other critics to support your arguments.
Thanks for all

I think the question wants you to use the selected texts to define what being "English" is -- I 'm assuming the nationality here -- and then, you might want to use those same texts to illustrate how that definition is either mocked or reinterpreted.

I hope I made that question more clearly understandable.
