Hello, everyone. I am a nearly retired secondary literature teacher. I stopped by this site quite on accident, and it looks interesting. My favorite periods of literature are English Renaissance, English Victorian, American Romantic, American Realism & Naturalism, and Modern U.S. literature. Favorite authors range wildly--Shakespeare, Austen, Dickens, Twain, Crane, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Amy Tan, Louise Erdrich, James Lee Burke, Thomas L. Friedmann, Toni Morrison, Sandra Cisneros, Julia Alvarez, Frank McCourt--so I am up for a discussion on just about anyone of note, and I have probably some familiarity with most major writers. I'm not a fussy reader, and my interest doesn't preclude books that didn't make somebody else's list of what's worth reading. I'll read anything that catches my fancy: an interesting book concept intrigues me more than the name on the spine. William Gibson and Neal Stephenson are current favorites. Annie Proulx intrigues me with her quirky characters, as do Amy Tan and Louise Erdrich. I generally read at least a half dozen recreational titles a month, both fiction and non-fiction. I'll be curious to meet new voices and personalities here. I am 62, 40-years happily married with four grown children and several grandchildren, both free-range and pending release. :crash:

Hello webranger and welcome to litnet. I too found this site by accident, and it has become my favorite site on the net. Since I discovered this site about a month ago, I have read three novels and a number of short stories. It's just a wonderful site. I know you will enjoy it.
