Actually, this isn't a short story. This is a complaint. This whole network is a joke. I post a short story for criticism and one person helps me out even though I have done my best to contribute to these boards in the short amount of time I have been here. Two other people responded, one said I had not written anything to criticize and the other closed my thread for some unknown reason. I have not felt welcomed at all. This isn't how a network should be run. I am extremely disappointed with this entire message board. I have talked to nothing but jerks.

Hi JDP,

Sorry to hear that your experience on the Forum has not been a satisfying but please appreciate the fact that it is hard to offer criticism to someone one does not know well. On so many occassion, the criticism is not taken with the good faith it is offered.

If you give our members a chance to get to know you better by taking in other discussions as well, I am sure they will feel more comfortable to offer you feedback and suggestions.

I would like to say that I'm sorry about your poor experience with the forums. If you check the original topic, I did leave my perspective on your story. {edit}

Hi Jdp,
I myself have only been here for a short amount of time as well and have found this board to be nothing but respectful, helpful and friendly.
I'm sorry if you feel hard done by with the lack of criticism. In saying that, I hope that you don't leave without first understanding something. I have found more help in reading other peoples stories and their criticisms rather than someone critiquing my work solely.

I'll leave you with this last thought. it is easy to give someone a comment/criticism, but it is much harder to apply that criticism to your own work when the time comes. don't just think cause you've posted a few times that people are going to automatically look at your work. only one person has critiqued my story, and yes it isn't finished yet, but i'm more than happy applying other peoples criticisms. maybe you shouldn't get so worked up over something so trivial, you'll live a happier life.

Looking back upon this message, I realize I overreacted to the situation. I apologize to all.

I have been on the forum since June and I find it to be full of highly intelligent people and a semi-intellectual way to spend my time. better than watching TV.

I find the people here unusually helpful and exceedingly well read. I value their comments, and their brains have been a valuable resource to me. Where else can you get a truely international viewing of your work?
