late night, contemplating that ancient divination
i realised that my penmanship is my salavtion
the relentless chasing of perfection
in a sentence twisting past and present tenses
to define tomorrow and stand in denail of the sorrow
sweeping generations losing their forefathers
watching them fall like a house of cards
attacked from the bottom and i find a bottle
of bourbon wisdom is never enough
when you consider the lifting of human souls
on dark roads at 4am and the voices taunting them
the cloaked wraith sauntering from the shadows
to announce himself and the wealth of tears
he employs to drown the strongest
and the songs of the dead can never be heard
from six feet above so i assume they sing with love
and wish upon us compassion and flashes
of inspiration when we find ourselves up late pacing
contemplating divination

What an extraordinary metaphysical experience! It seems to be born of its own voice and to create its own universe as it goes along, somewhat as it used to be said of Bobby Orr that not even he knows he's going to move until he does it.

I agree, Jer, this is absolutely provocative in an introspective sense...the mysterious nature of your images astounds me...
thanks for sharing, as always, it blew me away

Thanks guys! PrinceM, your comment "It seems to be born of its own voice and to create its own universe as it goes along" means very much to me. Thank you so much; when I wrote this all my poetry seemed to inhabit this own place, an escape from a twisted education system and destructive social life. I've always been fond of this piece, so I'm really glad you appreciate it (:
"the cloaked wraith sauntering from the shadows/to announce himself and the wealth of tears/ he employs to drown the strongest",
this is a great picture of death, that can overcome even the strongest. i was listening to dave koz's 'saxophonic' when i was reading, and the two arts jived. i would spell 'denail' correctly. i'm going to read this again just to get into the state i was before.

thanks cogs! i've never heard of that artist, but i love the title 'saxophonic'!
i must say the last part was an insightful ending, full of assonance:
"...so i assume they sing with love
and wish upon us compassion and flashes
of inspiration when we find ourselves up late pacing
contemplating divination"

This is really a mystic poem, this reminds me of a great poet like Arabindo who wrote so many poems of divination, spirituality and mysticism and I got really intensely and deeply moved by this poem. Of course such poems fashioned out of great contemplation on life, the universe and Creation is really fascinating in point of fact and such poems drive us to a different state than the usual and of course it entertains us here as a great poem.
I hope we can expect more and more such poems from the poet and indeed such poems fuel the fore of imagination in us and awaken us to new realities beyond the obvious. I salute to the poet for enlightening us with such thought provoking and inspiring poems. This poem is born of great meditation of course by distancing oneself from the usual.
