$4000!!!! Holy smoke. I've never won anything close to that. They gave out a $4000 prize at a Christmas party!! Wow, that sure beats the bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream I won a few years ago.

As to the traveling, do you have to use it all in one shot or can you break it up into two trips? As to where to go, well, I guess that depends. I could probably be interested in everywhere in the world. Historical Europe, adventurous Africa, mysterious far east? Bah, I recommend someplace warm in the winter, with a beach. :)

I'm with Virgie, the best I've ever done is a Polaroid camera.

A cruise around the Mediterranean? or Caribbean? ohhh or the Far East? or Africa?

Lucky old you, kilted - wherever you go, you'll enjoy it: you didn't have to pay for it! (She said with feeling having just paid for the jaunt to Egypt in Februaury.)

I suppose where you go depends on where you start (sounds like the old joke) - I was travelling with some Aussies a couple of years ago and they were talking about their next trip which was to be a tour of the Pacific Rim countries - wow, I thought, that's for me too. Then I realised that wherever I started a tour like that, I'd have to travel half way round the world to get there, so I might as well utilise that travelling time to see something on the way. So - if you are starting from west of the Atlantic, I'd say stay in the Western Hemisphere. Or if you are coming home to Bonnie Scotland, tour the Old World.

Having said that, China is well worth a visit - will $4000 take you that far?

Wow Kilted! That's fantastic. Congratulations! There are so many incredible places to see out there. Where have you never been before? Maybe you should just pin a map to the wall and throw darts?

PS--Where do you work? I want to go to your company Christmas parties.

Wow, well done you!

What sort of holiday are you after? Culture and history, breathtaking landscapes, or some sun-drenched paradise?

I'd definitely pick Japan. A country which i know is expensive to visit. It would be a good opportunity

I work for Canadian Tire - The greatest store on the planet. I won the trip via a draw: you got 1 ticket for each on-line learning course you completed over the year so I had 48 tickets (one guy had 200) and my ticket was pulled out the hat.

I am completely at a loss - when it first came out I immediately said ok, I'm going to machu pichu but I think I want to see that for the first time with a certain other person here. I am going to use it to go somewhere I will never get a chance to go again. I can split it into as many trips as I like. I have considered the great wall of china, new zealand, venice (where I have always wanted to see), going by train from one end of the country to the other, am also thinking a nice carribean cruise wouldnt be bad. I am stuck for choice.

What a great prize kilted, I'm sure you'll figure out where to go. It depends on so much..when can you go? at what time of year? do you want to go on a lazy cruise or maybe transCanada train trip? or a guided tour of India and eat curry for 2 weeks?? heh heh..

ok, so I have convinced a certain person to let me take her with me and we have limited it to 4 possible places for me to take her for 5 days at the end of may/beginning of june for our 1 year:

1) Geneva

2) Prague

3) Stockholm

4) Reykjavik

Neither of us have been to these cities before and we are both interested in all of them so she is going about creating a poll for the thread if any of you fine people wouldnt mind casting in your vote :)

Niamh

I don't really know much about any of the four cities, but I have had a desire to go to Prague. Why? I don't know.

That is so cool! All we ever get are bath products or random things like that. Reykjavik sounds fun, but I suspect you guys will have fun wherever you go. :D

Iceland seems popular in the poll so far, I went with Prague because the history of the region is more interesting to me.

My brother has been to all of those cities on his travels and Prague is one of the few he talks about.

Something about Switzerland turns me off, nothing about that country interest me.

Where would the Significant Other like to go? No good going to the City of your Dreams if he/she has already been there and hated it first time round or would have preferred to have gone to one of the other possible places (because if the S.O. is a Forum member (s)he will have been following this thread with interest.)

Kasie, I think he said in there these were the cities of mutual interest for both.

Perhaps it's the georgeous library they have at Strahov Monastery:

So indeed he did - I overlooked that, apologies.
