Oppression

What is oppression? Is it painful for your feelings, spirit and body? If it is

please tell me how? Oppression is taking something not yours by

enforcement. Oppression is hurting others either with words or actions.

Oppression has many definitions and ways. One of these ways is to

make unfair opinion about a person or situation; Bara’a is one of those who

underwent misjudgment, so let’s hear about her experience.

On Sunday morning, the sky is clear and the sun shining. A baltimore oiel,

canard and goldfinch are twittering over a beautiful home. A few minutes

later, a charming girl opens one of the home’s windows. The sunshine enters

into the home, and a group of butterflies starts fore playing in locks of her

fascinating hair. That girl is Bara’a.

She writes stories and fictional novels. She has a pure soul that sounds like

a violin. Bara’a is a master of the violin which she considers her loyal friend.

She wants to leave something memorable to humankind before she leaves

this universe. A few weeks later, she applies to the literature school to

complete her education in literature. She begins attending her classes, and

she feels happiness; but; unfortunately, it is for a short time.

Two months later, something unpredictable turns

Bara’a’s optimism to depression and sadness. She is misevaluated by the

school’s administrators. They classify her in a weak abilities’ class; that is a

tough shock for Bara’a. At that time, she feels oppression. She is thinking of

leaving the school; however, she makes her mind up to put up with things

and to define herself to those people.

One day, Bara’a is walking in the streets, and her face is covered by the

sorrow. She is walking in Sycometree’s street. Sometimes, she cries alone,

and sometimes, sits on sides. Then, she finds an attractive restaurant. She

walks in and orders a cup of coffee. While she is waiting for her order, she is

pondering and daydreaming out of the restaurant’s window. The waiter feels

her grief, and he realizes that girl is unhappy. After that, she becomes going

to this restaurant and drinking a cup of coffee for a long time. At some point,

before the waiter presents her order, he asks her:-

Excuse me !

Could I help you?

Could I know the secret of your gloom?

She says, “give me my order and forget me”. “ Please, let me alone”. She

decides to look for someone to help her to defeat her anguish, yet she finds

no one. Therefore, she goes reflecting her pain in pieces of writing and

literature. One night, while she is loafing in the streets, she meets one of her

close friends. At that second, she hugs her friend like somebody who needs

who be warmed up by a fire. That friend is named Nirmen.

Nirmen takes Bara’a to her home. She puts a coat on her back to make her

warm. Bara’a falls in asleep near to the fireplace because she is tired and

shivered with cold. The next morning, Nirmen notices how sad Bara’a is. She

brings a cup of tea to Bara’a and asks her:-

What happens?

Why are you sorrowful?

Bara’a is silent. No movement and no whisper !

Nirmen repeats her question.

Why are you sorrowful?

Please, tell me!

Bara’a’s lips move. Her mouth is full of speech.

She says, “Oppression, Oppression, Oppression”.

Nirmen says, “Oppression” !!

Tell me what is exactly occurring?

But, unluckily, she does not give any answers.

Nirmen says, “Well, Well”. When you want to talk, you will

find me here to listen. Afterward, Nirmen suggests a supposition. She

supposes that there is a place might relieve a little of Bara’a’s distress. This

place is known as a soul’s garden.

On Wednesday morning, Nirmen and Bara’a are going to the soul’s garden.

The road is very long. However, something incredible happens. When they

reach the garden that includes green trees, bloomed flowers, waterfalls and

birds, everything dries in the blink of an eye.

Both Nirmen and Bara’a are shocked and they are wondering why that

happens? What is the reason? They enter the garden to explore what befalls.

They do not get anything; they leave and come back their home without

knowing the factor that causes that dryness.

One day, Bara’a goes to the garden by herself without telling Nirmen. At that

minute, she is standing in the middle of the garden between roses. The sky is

cloudy and dark, except a nice cranberry fritillary is coming from far to

condole Bara’a. It sits on her shoulder and cries for Bara’a’s sadness.

Seconds later, Nirmen comes to the garden and finds Bara’a alone. She has

her head on her knees and cries. She is broken up. Nirmen sits by Bara’a and

attempts to release her from that situation. But,nothing changes, Bara’a is

still suffering. Nirmen intends to know what happens with Bara’a to drive her

to this state; she asks Bara’a again:-

Please tell me the truth!

What is going on?

Bara’a says,

“Now dreams

Are not available

To the dreamers

Nor songs

To the singers” .

Nirmen says, “What happened to your dreams?”

Who is destroying them?

Bara’a answers,

“In some lands

Dark night

And cold steel

Prevail

But the dream will come back,

And the song

Break

Its jail”

I don’t understand you.

Bara’a replies, “Pure souls are being killed; they are being put in the mud”.

“Pearls are being distorted, and their beauty, brilliance and power are fading
away”.

When your dreams are dying slowly, when your ambitions go away and
shallow gradually, how
would you feel?

Depressed, off course !

So, that is what I feel.

I’m sorry Bara’a to see you miss your dreams and hopes.

I lose my dreams, however, not my hopes.

Really !!

Yeah !

What is your wishes?

I wish the birds played the tunes of the sorrow that drew on my life.

I wish the wind carried the tree’s leaves and threw them on my face.

I wish the tree’s branches were crutches to enable me to stand again after the disability.

I wish the rain’s drops took hatred away and brought love, happiness and
success to my soul.

There is no way stay whether Bara’a’s violin that plays the tunes of her

despair on. She goes and sits at the beach every day. When she starts

playing, dolphins and fish come and crowd. They repeat the same tunes that

Bara’a plays as a respect to her, and they turn their heads and

the tears are falling out of their eyes.

Although the pain and the suffering are breaking into Bara’a’s life and

compromising her, Nirmen is trying to make her friend free.

Whereas Bara’a is still composing stories, novels and representing her feelings

in writings. Sometimes, she leans on the balcony of her room’s window and

pins her hopes on something that can change her life at one point.
