In the late 1970s I studied German in the UK. Everything I read at that time has stayed in my memory eg 'Little Man, What Now?' However, I can't remember the authors of two unforgettable short stories:
1. A man has no identification papers at all so he is condemned to be stuck on the border line between east and west - literally he is dragged along the border, his body scraping the barbed wire.
2. A man is so caught up in the 'economic miracle' of post-war West Germany that he types with his feet - under his desk! This is the epitome of all of us now, trying to do umpteen things at once. I've mentioned this often to friends and family but I can't quote the source!

If anyone knows who wrote these stories, I'd be so grateful to be reminded. Names of authors that come to mind from the late 1970s are Borchert and Heinrich Boll. Beyond these, please help!
