My Enemy, My Ally
Time has a way of crumbling mountains to sand,
Turning a strong man into a babbling child again
Time etches lines on our face, canyons of change
An inexorable enemy that we must hate or embrace
For time is as sure as the unrelenting tides—
Wait on the Reaper, who without pity awaits you
And enjoy time as it passes, make your life count—
All you have to lose is time

I love it. Time is one of my favorite subjects and I think you found a way to make may of the cliches associated with time (turn mountains into sand, etching lines on our face, tides, reaper, etc. ) sound so fresh. There's a wonderful flow to this piece as if it's as at ease with time as the narrator.

Time is at the same a great healer too; for time patches old wounds and cures our inflictions. And if there is no time, could life be significant? Poems about times are really interesting to me, and I myself wrote plenty doggedly of course about time and still it moves me.

Yeah I agree with Morpheaus. I too am mezmerized by the idea of time and the passing of time. Novels or films which encompass the whole of a life are always special to me, despite the fact that they make me rather depressed.
Excellent poem from you, as always. Though the last line didn't agree with me.
On the contrary, I found the last line to be the perfect finish! :D I loved it, Pendragon. I'm afraid that, like usual, I have nothing more productive to say.

Thanks Morpheus! High praise coming from a poet of your statue!
Blaze--time is both a bringer of destruction and a bringer of hope. It does heal the wounds in its own way and time.
Dan--glad you enjoyed it. My newest friend on the forum!
Skib-- thanks for the feedback, it was plenty constructive, and deeply appreciated!

Pen, great title for this poem showing the indifferent power of time.
