yeah, turn the page
in the paperback
turn your back
to the facts
the cigarette packs
face the saxophone
roll out or roll home
roll alone
down the lonesome road
growing old
on your feet
soul's one
with the concrete
make your peace
then sleep
easy with wheels
on the highway
caught in a greyhound race
outta place
on the track
so step back
tip your head back
and observe
the world above you
breath with relief
this world loves you
inhale deep
then exhale easy
watch the smoke in breeze
and feel it
floating, drifting
see sunrises
on new horizons
feel yourself lifting
elevated
always chasing
lights in the distance
yes it gets you twisted
breathe deep
then flick it
**** it
just risk it...

I really liked this one, the pace, the rhymes (all of them) and again the last three lines are killer.

I too thought this had tremendous authority in its hip-hop pace, language that never felt like a parody of the genre. Great stride!

I loved the flow of your poem! It's like listening to a song...Nice work!

seriously, who are you? where did you come from? the energy and free spirited badassery in your poems is captivating! of course, the movement is the icing on the cake, you really have mastered that from what I've seen of your posted work. i wish i could give you constructive criticism, but I am blown away and see only true art!

BRAVO,
paper

This is a wonderful piece, though I think I might enjoy it more as hip-hop lyrics than as poetry on the page. Give this poet a beat and someone hit record!

Thanks guys! the positivity in your comments really means so much to me... Especially your comment Paperleaves; I think that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said about my poetry (:

And Mr. Sandman, I write most of my piece to be performed rather than read, so it's interesting you should say that. But I did kinda like the way this poem looks kinda minimalist on the page. What do you think?

The smooth flow, pleasurable word-play and effective repetitions made this piece fun to read. Thanks for sharing.
