What's Ingsoc?

The term Ingsoc has been mentioned multiple times now and I'm not sure what it is. In one place it is referred to as having principles. So then is it laws or rules? Is it significant in the plot of the book or just a small part that's just referred to a couple of times?

Ingsoc is the basic principles of Big Brother, and the party. Their ideals, and concepts; war is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength, are all part of Ingsoc.

In the year 1984, Ingsoc (English Socialism), is the regnant ideology of Oceania, and Newspeak is its official language.

It's the principles, morals, ideals, beliefs, however you want to put it, it's what Big Brother stands for.
